In Transit

After my return from Southeast Alaska I spent some time in my hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. This was time mainly spent riding my bike, seeing my friends and family as much as I could, and waiting. Waiting for the next… thing to begin. That thing had already been decided, I was moving up to Wenatchee, Washington to live with my brother and sister in an apartment by the river.

Why? Well, why not? Truthfully there was nothing about Wenatchee that drew me towards it more than any other place, except for the fact that my sister was finishing up her school there at the Community College. I thought this would make for as good a reason as any to move somewhere and look for something to do.

That is where I write this now, in my apartment in Downtown Wenatchee. It is a nice place, the city is beautiful and different. I have already done some insane hiking out here and have been having a blast. Maybe most importantly I have been writing a lot of music, music that I am very excited to share in open mics and gigs around the area and eventually… Online. I’m thinking I will call this body of work ‘In Transit’ for a couple reasons.

Firstly, I have been in a somewhat constant state of transit over the past year or so. Moving multiple times around a few different states. Getting to spend time with people, and always feeling like it is brief and fading quickly. The second reason for naming the body of work is that I know drive a Ford Transit van, and I spent a lot of the time driving up to Washington thinking deeply about my life in recent years. Who really knows what comes next? Not me, but I am always curious about the next thing, the next adventure.
